Waller Invitation Tournament 07/12/08
On 7th December we played in the Waller Invitation Tournament at Exeter. The team included: G Rostron, L Langman, H Rostron, D Langman, B Rollinson, D Crook, M Edwards, A Wilson, R Robinson, A Bingham, J Bailey, R Hudspth, K Rollinson and A Cowan.
When we arrived after an hours drive, we had a quick chance to look around the pool. Our first match was against Cheltenham, by the first half we were 7-0 down. The finishing score was 11-0
Our next match was against Barnstaple, they played well and had won against Paignton 4-1. By the first half the score was 2-1, with a good goal from D Crook. In the second half the score proceeded to 4-1 to Barnstaple. We lost but had a good game. The next match was against Paignton and having lost our first two matches we were determined to win the next. Paignton though had also lost their previous two matches, so we were both fighting to be the winner. In the first half the score was 3-1 to Paignton, but D Crook scored a brilliant goal. The match ended with the score 5-1 to Paignton.
We may have lost all our three matches, however, everyone enjoyed the experience and the nice fish and chips that followed! Thanks go to B Sanders, C Wallace and B Baker for refereeing our matches.
DRSA v Paignton SEMI FINAL 9th November 2008
On Sunday 9th November 2008 the Devonport Junior team went up to Paignton for the Devon semi final cup. The team included: G Rostron, L Langman, H Rostron, E vasey (captain), D Langman, B Rollinson, D Crook, M Edwards, A Wilson, R Robinson, A Bingham, J Bailey
The first quarter Paignton had the upper hand over us and we were 5-0 down. Ben Rollinson hit the cross bar on the break. George Roston the goalkeeper made some good saves.
The second quarter we scored our first goal. It was scored by Dan Crook. George Rostron again making good saves.
The third quarter we scored two goals. They were scored by Ben Rollinson and Harry Rostron. Well done boys
The fourth quarter saw us score two more goals from Dan Crook and Ben Rollinson. George again was brilliant in goal well done.
Overall the team had a great game, played well and enjoyed the experience but we did not progress to the final. Final score was 18-5.
We must remember that the Paignton team were 3 years older than our team. We next play at Exeter on December 7th in the Waller Invitation Tournament.
